Let's Talk About Dementia-min (1)

Hi, my name is Denise Scruggs. I’m the Director of Education for the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners and I’m glad to be here to talk to you a little bit about what to look for in a Residential Community for a loved one who can no longer live with you. It’s probably one of the most difficult decisions that we make and also one of the most important decisions we make because we know it impacts not only us but our loved one. There are four basic things to look for, the first one and very importantly is it safe? Is it comfortable? What’s there to help making sure that they’re in an environment particularly if they wander that they’ll not wander away from the area? So, is it safe and comfortable? is it a place that would feel comfortable for your loved one? Does it feel familiar? There are many things that you can also do that we’ll talk about another time to make that a comfortable situation.
