What is the biggest difference in memory care communities between pre-trained and post-trained staff?
I am a huge fan of training, and just practical, and letting the light go off. You can see it when a staff kind of catches the bug and just you see their engagement in the classroom type setting. Well, I am currently teaching a group of buildings and now I’m on the floor watching the staff. I see them applying what they learned. Even if we do an activity, and sometimes it doesn’t go as we think it will, but if we say everyone’s name, we give them some human contact. Then we thank them for being with us and we ask them each to be engaged in some way the whole activity doesn’t work they’ve still had like three human connections. You see them applying it and it’s not just a competency and a test and that’s what I love about the curriculum with NCCDP.
