The CPCHCP Certification is an entry-level certification for professionals, front line staff, administrator, Administrators, Social Workers, Geriatric Care Managers, Nurses, CNA’s, PCA’s, HHA’s, GNA and MedTechs, and social worker who provide care to patients with a diagnosis of Dementia in the home care, hospice care or licensed personal care home industry.

More About CPCHCP®
The CPCHCP (Certified Personal Care Home Care Professional) Certification is for those who work provide care to persons with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease in home care, hospice care, or in a licensed personal-care home industry. After applying, you will be required to take a 30-hour course through NetCE or qualify through the grandfather option. Coursework curriculum includes Assessment and Management of Pain at the End of Life, Caring for the Geriatric Patient, Cultural Meanings of Death and Dying, Geriatric Failure to Thrive, and Palliative Care at the End of Life.

CPCHCP® Certification Requirements
There are four pathways to obtaining your CPCHCP® Certification
PATHWAY 1
Complete the Personal Care and Home Care 30 hour course upon application approval.
- 1-year minimum paid full-time experience with a home care agency, hospice agency, or licensed personal care home.
- For nursing assistants who completed a state-required course, we will require the certificate.
- All other health care professionals must have a current license or certification.
PATHWAY 2
Complete the Personal Care and Home Care 30 hour course upon application approval.
- 1-year minimum paid full-time experience with a home care agency, hospice agency, or licensed personal care home.
- For nursing assistants, certified as either a CNA, PCA, HHA, or GNA by an accrediting body or government agency.
- All other health care professionals must have a current license or certification.
PATHWAY 3
Four Year College Graduate or Master's Degree.
- No License or Certification. The state regulations where you work does not require a license nor certification for my position. We require a copy of the state regulations and a letter from the Executive Director or owner stating this.
- 1 year paid experience in-home care, hospice care, or licensed personal care home.
PATHWAY 4
Grandfather for Nursing Assistants ONLY: You can bypass the course requirement and proceed to certification IF:
- Have completed at minimum a 30-hour online nursing assistant training class by a nationally recognized training company.
- Have a current certification in good standing such as a PCA, CNA, HHA, or GNA
- Three years of full-time experience with a home care agency, hospice agency, or licensed personal care home.
- You will be required to upload the online course that you completed. Be sure to select the Grandfather Option.
For the grandfather option (which allows you to bypass the course requirement), you must have completed comprehensive home care or hospice course from a national organization or universities such as Relias, an online education company, university, association, government agency, or trade school.
This does NOT include the required state course required for the following certifications; CNA, HHA, PCA, GNA, Med Tech, or nursing school requirements for LVN, LPN, NP, or RN. You can not use the required course work for the above license or certifications for the grandfather option. You will be asked to upload the additional course work certificate of completion or certification if applying for the grandfather option.

Login to your account and if eligible to renew, a renewal button will be visible on your account page. The renewal button will show up 60 days prior to the expiration date.

Who should apply for CPCHCP®
Anyone with over one year of experience who works through a licensed personal-care, home-care, or hospice agency to care for persons affected by dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
What do I need to apply?
- A license or certification in the healthcare field OR a letter from an owner or administrator stating a license or certification is not required to hold your position.
- 1-year minimum paid full-time experience with a home care agency, hospice agency, or licensed personal care home.
What are the fees associated with this certification?
- Application fee of $160 USD
- Course fee payable to NetCE- $111 (subject to change per NetCE)
- Renewal is every two years and is $160 USD at this time.
What you can expect, step by step.
- Step 1. Complete the application online and pay the application fee.
- Step 2. Wait for your application to be approved.
- Step 3. Follow the approval letter. An e-mail will be sent with instructions to register with NCCDP Online Learning Powered by NetCE home care curriculum. Be sure to register your full name at NetCE exactly the way you registered with NCCDP.
- Step 4. Complete the 30 hours online home care curriculum. Upon completing the final test an e-mail will be sent to you with an online evaluation.
- Step 5. Complete evaluation online. Your opinions are very important to us and we value your time in completing the evaluation.
- Step 6. Your CPCHCP certification will be emailed to you.
- Step 7. Renew your certification in 24 months. An email reminder will be sent to you. You will need 10 contact hours from NCCDP Online Learning Powered by NetCE to renew your certification.
