Nancy Rowe and her husband own home care agencies in Connecticut, as well as a Dementia consulting and support agency through her company, Dementia Journey with Nancy. Nancy had been going to different seminars for Alzheimer’s Association and learning all she could about dementia when she met a woman who said attended a training to receive her Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) certification.
Nancy was thrilled to learn about the CDP certification and took an NCCDP course in 2018 to become certified, taking subsequent NCCDP certification courses in 2020 and 2022. Now, Nancy has completed the Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Certified Trainer (CADDCT) course to train others in the hopes of spreading her message about best practices in dementia care.
“I am passionate about everyone understanding about dementia and the best practices in care.” – Nancy Rowe
Nancy’s journey began in home care, but in Florida, she worked in two different memory care units at Assisted Living Facilities. She believes her work made a positive difference at each facility with both staff and families. After launching Dementia Journey with Nancy, she has gone out on her own in the hopes of helping families find the right living situation for their loved one on their journey, but also helping facilities by offering seminars on best practices in dementia care and families by understanding they are NOT alone.
Dementia care is a journey that we all are in together. Not only does Nancy work in the field, but her family has been on the journey together for the past 6 years. Her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and her aunt died this past Christmas of Lewy Body Dementia (less than a year from diagnosis to death). Her uncle was also diagnosed with dementia last year.
